Background:
VAX/PDP Environment on 10Base5: Falcon [VAX 11/780 VMS 4.6], Hawk [11/785
VMS 4.6], Nemo [11/44 RSX 11M+ 3.0]

1. When using 'sethost' on my Linux box, it takes over 30 seconds to
actually establish the connection.  Once logged in, it takes over 10 seconds
to return a prompt.  Why?

2. I understand why I cannot use 'sethost NEMO' directly from the Linux box,
due to DECnet versions.  But why when I first connect to one of the VAXen
and then 'SET HOST NEMO' do I get a '>' prompt and then no system activity
whatsoever?
