Re: DN address in Kernel 2.2.12

Nothing in that area (for DECnet) has changed from 2.0 to 2.2 so unless the card driver can no longer change the ethernet address I've no idea. There's certainly nothing wrong with Debian 2.1 and 2.2 kernels because that's exactly what I am running.

I suppose you could try changing the card address using ifconfig instead:
ifconfig eth0 hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Make sure that TCP/IP is down first though.

Hello,

I have been using DECnet with Debian Slink (kernel 2.0.34) for some time now without any problems. I recently changed to kernel 2.2.12 to be able to run the poormancd software and I can't get the MAC address set on my etherexpress 16 card now. I call startnet -hw in rcS.d at S12 and dnprogs at S15 so as to make sure they are active before any other network stuff, but it doesn't work and I see no errors on bootup. I used to do this with a ifconfig statement, but that doesn't work anymore either. What am I missing here.
