Well, here is a simple command:
> dir zeus"healyzh XXXXXXXX"::
It's working, BUT it's even slower than a 'dndir' from Linux was. Doing a
dir on a Alpha running VMS is fairly fast from the PDP-11, and nice and
fast from Linux.
One thing I'm noticing while trying to get a file from both a Linux system
and a VMS system is the following:
> copy monk"healyzh XXXXXXXX"::[healyzh.lice]vax-vms.txt vaxvms.txt
COPY -- Extraneous input - Check for proper command structure
COPY MONK"healyzh XXXXXXXX"::[HEALYZH.LICE]VAX-VMS.TXT VAXVMS.TXT

I did get a copy of a file called advtxt.txt (~64k) to start, but it seems
to have just sort of drifted off, and been forgotten about. Very wierd,
I'm not familiar enough with RSX-11M to really be sure what's going on
here. Not making much sense I'm sure, but I think the copy is still active.
I've also tried 'copy' with varying results. A small file 'advent.doc'
(~1k) worked just fine, the bigger file 'advtxt.txt' didn't, but it looks
to be a wierd file. I'm trying a third file (~5k) now.... and it's having
trouble with it, but slowly making it through it. I don't know if you're
familiar with RSX-11M, but I can do a "SHOW MEM" which is a little like
"MONI SYS" on VMS, and for the most part the RSX-11M system is just sitting
idle.
OK, it made it finished that type, and it came up with an error (it did
display the whole file before popping up the error message).
NFT -- Error in getting record from file ZEUS::ZEUS:[USER1.HEALYZH]CONFIG.TXT;1
DAP error code (macro:micro)= 1:47
Operation successful

Finally I figured out why 'sethost' would have the session lock up when I
logged into the PDP-11. It turns out the problem was the following program
"SLE", SLE-Editor V 2.6, which was in the SYSLOGIN.CMD file. Run it and
the session locks up tight! It get's wierder though, as this is only a
partial fix. Type in something like 'dir by*' don't even hit return and
the session will most likely freeze solid. Yet I seem to be able to do
'dir' as many times as I want.
Well, that's all the tests I can run today, time to start thinking about
going to work. I get the impression that it's able to handle the first
kilobyte or so of data, then it starts having some sort of problems.
