Hi,

the 2.3.xx series has advanced a lot since 2.3.10... I suggest you try
looking for the very latest kernel version. There have been a lot of
network driver updates recently and many drivers have been broken by
the changes. These are gradually being fixed and so the very latest version
of 2.3.xx should probaby have a working driver for your card. If not I
dare say one will be available within a week or so, since both
are commonly used cards.

The error you are experiencing with the MAC address setting would
appear to be due to you trying to set the address after the interface
is already up and running. You can only set the MAC address if the
interface is down. If thats not the case, let me know and I'll have
another think about it,
